B&B Skyfall
First Impressions
Walking up to B&B Skyfall on Obala Hrvatskog narodnog preporoda, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but the location immediately grabbed my attention. You’re literally steps from Diocletian’s Palace, and I mean literally — you can see the ancient walls from the entrance. This four-star bed and breakfast sits right on the waterfront promenade, which locals call the Riva, and it’s one of those spots where you realize you’ve hit the jackpot for location.
The Heart of Split
The thing about staying here is that you’re not just near the action — you’re in the absolute center of everything that matters in Split. Diocletian’s Palace is right there, the ferry terminal is a five-minute walk, and all those little konobas (traditional restaurants) are scattered around the narrow streets just behind you. I watched couples strolling past my window at all hours, and honestly, it makes sense why they rate this location so highly for romantic trips. The Riva stretches out in front of you with its palm trees and café terraces, and you can walk the entire old town without ever needing transportation.
The Room Experience
Now, about that room — they weren’t kidding about the comfortable beds. I’m usually pretty picky about mattresses, but I slept incredibly well here, which is saying something after long days of walking on those ancient stone streets. The rooms have this clean, modern feel that contrasts nicely with all the historical surroundings outside. You know what I appreciated? The windows actually open properly, so you can hear the gentle sounds of the harbor and feel that Mediterranean breeze, especially in the evenings when the temperature drops.
Practical Considerations
Being a B&B, don’t expect hotel-style amenities, but that’s actually part of the charm. The staff knows the area inside and out — they pointed me toward this little restaurant tucked away in the palace walls that I never would have found otherwise. One thing to keep in mind: this is the old town, so if you’re driving, you’ll need to figure out parking arrangements beforehand. The narrow streets weren’t exactly designed for cars, but the location more than makes up for any minor logistics.
Why Guests Love It
After staying here, I completely understand why couples give this place such high marks. There’s something romantic about falling asleep to the sound of waves lapping against the harbor wall and waking up to views of the Adriatic. You’re close enough to everything that you can pop back to your room during the day — maybe for a quick rest before dinner or to drop off shopping bags from the local markets. The combination of that prime waterfront location and genuinely comfortable accommodations creates one of those stays where you feel like you’re living in Split rather than just visiting it.
