Charlie Chaplin
First Impressions
Walking up to Charlie Chaplin on Dražanac ulica, you immediately get the sense that this four-star hotel knows exactly what it’s doing. The building has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with Split’s mix of old and new — not trying too hard to impress, but clearly well thought out. What struck me right away was how quiet this street feels despite being so close to everything that matters in Split. You know what I mean — sometimes hotels claim to be “centrally located” but you’re actually stuck next to a construction site or busy road.
The Perfect Split Location
Honestly, the location here is pretty much perfect, and I’m not just saying that because of their 9.4 location score. You’re in what locals consider the best part of Split — close enough to walk to Diocletian’s Palace in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds right outside your window. The Riva waterfront is an easy stroll, and if you want to hit Bacvice Beach (which you absolutely should), it’s totally walkable. I actually found some of my favorite local konobas just by wandering the streets around the hotel — the kind of places you’d never find if you were staying out in the tourist zones.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run four-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without being flashy. The air conditioning actually works (trust me, this matters in Split summers), and the beds are genuinely comfortable. What I really appreciated were the little touches — good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and a bathroom that doesn’t feel cramped. The soundproofing is solid too, which means you can open your windows for that Mediterranean breeze without worrying about street noise keeping you up.
Practical Perks
Here’s something that’ll save you both money and headaches — they have free parking right on site. If you’ve ever tried to park in Split’s old town, you’ll know this is basically like finding gold. Most hotels in the center either don’t have parking at all or charge you a fortune for it. The staff here actually knows the city well too, which sounds basic but honestly isn’t always the case. They gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on and helped me figure out the best times to visit popular spots to avoid the worst crowds.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s one of those places that just gets the fundamentals right without any drama. Couples seem to particularly love it here, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about the neighborhood in the evenings, when the day-trippers have headed back to their cruise ships and you’ve got Split more to yourself. The hotel strikes this nice balance between being professional and welcoming, modern and authentic. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well.

Guest Reviews
It must be said that this apartment had such a good aura that we have never slept as well as we did during those 3 nights there.
Even our 2 year old twins never woke up during the nights- the dream of parents of young children :)
The host was brilliant and very attentive and the recommended taxi driver Pave was lovely.
I preferred this location because it was a short 10ish minute walk to the heart of the downtown area, just enough on the edge (and away from the cruise ships) that it was quiet and very pleasant.
The apartment has air conditioning that kept it comfortable - one unit in a bedroom and one in the dining room. The bedroom without the a/c unit does get a bit warm at night (in 95 degree weather in July) but the kids didn't seem to mind.
Our kids are younger so we were able to all fit into the 2 bedrooms but there was also a pullout couch in the living room that they had made up for us too if we had needed an extra one.
