Diocletian Wine studio apartment
First Impressions
Walking into Diocletian Wine studio apartment feels like discovering a hidden gem tucked away in the ancient heart of Split. This four-star property sits right on Dosud Street, and I mean literally in the pulse of everything — you’re basically living inside Diocletian’s Palace walls. The moment you step through the door, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special, not just another tourist accommodation.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location here is pretty much unbeatable. You’re surrounded by 1,700-year-old Roman walls, with the Peristyle (that’s the main palace square) just a two-minute walk away. What I love about this spot is that while you’re right in the historic center, Dosud Street itself is quieter than some of the main drags — you get all the atmosphere without the constant foot traffic outside your window. The narrow stone streets around here are perfect for evening strolls, and you’ll find yourself stumbling upon little wine bars and local eateries that most tourists never discover.
The Space
The studio apartment itself strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and respecting the historic setting. The space feels thoughtfully designed — not cramped like some old town accommodations can be. What really impressed me were the beds, which guests consistently rave about, and honestly, after sleeping on them I can see why. The kitchen area is compact but functional, perfect if you want to grab some fresh produce from the Green Market (literally around the corner) and prepare a simple meal. The whole place has this warm, lived-in feeling that makes you want to settle in for more than just a night or two.
Daily Life Here
Mornings are particularly magical — you can grab coffee from one of the local spots and sit in the nearby squares before the tour groups arrive. The apartment’s position means you’re close enough to everything important (the waterfront, ferry terminal, main shopping areas) but far enough from the busiest tourist zones that you actually feel like you’re experiencing Split, not just visiting it. I noticed couples seem especially drawn to this place, and after staying here, I get it — there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of an ancient palace.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it manages to deliver that authentic Split experience without sacrificing comfort. You’re not just staying near the historic center — you’re actually living in it, sleeping where Roman emperors once walked. The combination of the unbeatable location, those famously comfortable beds, and the thoughtful setup of the space creates this perfect base for exploring the city. Whether you’re planning day trips to nearby islands or just want to wander the palace corridors at sunset, you’ll find yourself coming back to a space that feels like a real home rather than just another room for the night.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Split before autumn harvests fill konobas with truffles and local wines.

Perfect location just tucked out of the way enough to be peaceful but close enough if you want to head out in old town Split.
Host was extremely helpful and communicative, sent a map of how to find the apartment which was very helpful!

Sound: Being in the centre, you can expect some noise, but we found this quieter than expected
