Luxury rooms Paula
First Impressions
Walking up to Luxury rooms Paula on Poljana Stare gimnazije, you immediately get why this place has such incredible reviews. I mean, you’re literally standing in the heart of old Split — like, the actual heart where locals still hang out, not just the touristy bits. The building itself has that perfect Croatian coastal charm, and honestly, the location alone makes this four-star property worth considering. You know what struck me most? How quiet it feels despite being so central.
The Location Magic
Here’s the thing about this spot — it’s tucked away on a small square that most tourists walk right past, but you’re still just a two-minute stroll from Diocletian’s Palace. I watched couples discover this area during my stay, and you could see them light up when they realized they’d found something special. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just marketing fluff; you’re genuinely in the sweet spot where Split’s real life happens. There’s a little café across the way where locals grab their morning coffee, and the evening light hits the old stone buildings in this absolutely perfect way.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d hope for — clean, well-designed, and surprisingly spacious for a historic building. The air conditioning actually works (trust me, this matters in Split summers), and the Wi-Fi is solid throughout. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep the character of the old architecture while making everything feel modern and comfortable. The bathroom was compact but functional, and honestly, when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city, you just need a good base — which this definitely provides.
Neighborhood Vibes
This part of Split feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find. During the day, you’ll see locals doing their shopping and kids playing in the small squares nearby. In the evenings, the area comes alive with that relaxed Croatian pace — people taking their time, enjoying conversations that stretch on for hours. You’re close enough to the main action that you can pop over to the Riva waterfront whenever you want, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds right outside your window. It’s particularly great for couples, which explains why they rate the location so highly.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Paula rooms work so well is that balance between location and tranquility. You get the convenience of being in the center without the chaos, and the staff clearly understands what travelers actually need. The property isn’t trying to be something it’s not — it’s a solid, well-run place in an exceptional location. For the price point and the area, it delivers exactly what it promises. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that locals would actually recommend to their friends visiting Split.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Split around Veli Varoš for tavern walks, art studios, and lively squares.

Guest Reviews
It was central to everything & only a couple of minutes to the water.
It was also clean & modern looking with lots of English channels on the tv. The bathroom was modern & spacious. It had a bar fridge with a small freezer which I needed for ice packs as I had an injury.
Hosts communication was responsive and helpful.
Some steps but part of the unique experience staying in such an ancient building.
