Palazzo Romano Suite 2
First Impressions
Walking up to Palazzo Romano Suite 2 on Alješijina ulica, you immediately get that “I’m staying somewhere special” feeling. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Split, and I mean literally — you’re about a two-minute walk from Diocletian’s Palace. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream tourist trap, which honestly made me feel like I’d stumbled onto something the locals might actually approve of.
The Perfect Split Location
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but tucked away on a quieter street so you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of the main tourist drag. The Riva waterfront is literally around the corner, and you can easily walk to those amazing seafood places near the fish market without feeling like you need to plan your whole day around it. Couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 9.6, which honestly makes sense), probably because you can slip away from the crowds but still be in the thick of things when you want to be.
The Suite Experience
The room itself feels more like a proper apartment than your typical hotel setup. There’s actual space to spread out, which you don’t always get in Split’s old town area. The design strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and respecting the building’s character — you know what I mean, where they haven’t just slapped contemporary furniture everywhere and called it a day. The windows let in great light during the day, and the whole space just feels thoughtfully put together rather than cookie-cutter.
Living Like a Local
What really won me over was how the place makes you feel less like a tourist passing through and more like you’re actually staying in Split. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward that little bakery that opens early or tell you which café actually makes decent coffee (trust me, this matters). You’re close enough to the Green Market that you could theoretically grab fresh ingredients if you wanted to, though honestly, with all the great restaurants within walking distance, I’m not sure why you would.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.5 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen — you can feel it in how smoothly everything runs and how genuinely helpful everyone is. The location score of 9.6 makes perfect sense once you’re there; it’s that sweet spot where you’re central but not overwhelmed. You can walk to the palace, the waterfront, great restaurants, and even catch ferries to the islands without any real planning. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay if you can, not because there’s anything flashy or over-the-top, but because it just works really well as a base for exploring Split properly.
