Residence Stine Overview
First Impressions
Walking down Kamenita ulica, you’d almost miss Residence Stine if you weren’t looking for it — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This four-star property sits right in the thick of Split’s old town, tucked into a narrow stone street that feels like it hasn’t changed much since Diocletian’s time. The entrance is understated, but once you step inside, you realize you’ve found something special. The building itself has that perfect blend of historic character and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to pull off.
Location & Neighborhood
I mean, you really can’t get more central than this — Split‘s main attractions are literally a two-minute walk away. The Peristyle, the cathedral, those winding alleys filled with little shops and cafes, they’re all right there. What I love about staying here is that you can duck back to your room for a quick break from the crowds, then head right back out for dinner. The couples who stay here clearly get it too, rating the location 9.7 out of 10. You know what’s great? You can actually hear the city waking up in the morning — church bells, vendors setting up, that authentic Mediterranean rhythm that makes you feel like you’re part of the place rather than just visiting it.
The Accommodations
The rooms at Residence Stine strike that sweet spot between cozy and spacious. Each one feels thoughtfully designed, with stone walls that remind you where you are while still offering all the modern touches you actually need. The beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable — and the bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy. What really impressed me was the attention to detail: proper blackout curtains (essential when you’re in the heart of a busy old town), good water pressure, and air conditioning that actually works during those sweltering summer months.
Breakfast Experience
The breakfast setup here is honestly better than I expected for a property this size. They’ve got the continental basics covered, but what sets it apart is the variety — vegetarian options, gluten-free choices, and a proper buffet spread that changes things up day to day. The dining area has this lovely intimate feel, and you’ll often find yourself chatting with other guests about their Split adventures. It’s the kind of breakfast that actually fuels you for a day of exploring rather than just filling you up.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.5 rating, Residence Stine clearly knows what it’s doing. The location alone would be enough to recommend it, but the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work. They know the neighborhood inside and out — where to get the best coffee, which restaurant to try for dinner, how to avoid the cruise ship crowds. It’s that combination of being right in the action while still feeling like a peaceful retreat that makes this place special. You’re not just staying in Split; you’re living in it, even if it’s just for a few days.
To book hotel in Split for Diocletian’s Palace sunsets, travelers grab rooms early to pair island ferries with wine caves.
