The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, but you know there’s something special waiting inside.

Location That Actually Matters

Honestly, the location here is pretty much perfect. You’re on a quiet side street that keeps you away from the main tourist chaos, but walk thirty seconds and you’re at the palace walls. I loved being able to grab morning coffee at one of the local spots nearby, then wander into the ancient courtyards without dealing with crowds of day-trippers who haven’t arrived yet. The Riva waterfront promenade is maybe a two-minute stroll — close enough that you can pop down for sunset drinks without it being a whole expedition.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for a historic building, with these lovely high ceilings that made everything feel airy. What really struck me was the attention to detail — modern amenities thoughtfully integrated without losing the character of the space. The bed was genuinely comfortable (sometimes you wonder if hotels just say that), and the bathroom had this nice rainfall shower that actually worked properly. You know what I appreciated? The soundproofing was excellent, which isn’t always a given in old buildings.

The staff here really knows their stuff about Split — they gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on, including this little family place tucked away in the palace that I never would’ve found on my own. There’s no on-site restaurant, but honestly, with the incredible dining scene right outside your door, you don’t need one. The front desk team was helpful without being pushy, and they seemed genuinely interested in making sure guests had a good experience rather than just checking boxes.

You can step out and be immediately immersed in Split’s energy — the morning markets, the evening strolls along the waterfront, the spontaneous discoveries around every corner. The combination of the prime location, comfortable accommodations, and that local knowledge from the staff creates exactly what you want from a Split base — easy access to the city’s best parts without any of the usual downtown hotel headaches. This apartment-style kitchen setup provides flexibility for longer stays.
