Sun Spalato Adris
First Impressions
Walking up to Sun Spalato Adris, you immediately get that “this is going to be good” feeling. The four-star property sits right on Šetalište Pape Ivana Pavla II — honestly, don’t worry about pronouncing it, everyone just calls it the waterfront promenade. What struck me first was how the hotel manages to feel both modern and respectfully Croatian at the same time. You’re not getting some generic international chain here, but you’re also not sacrificing comfort for character.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Split — location is everything, and Sun Spalato Adris absolutely nails it. You’re literally steps from the Riva, which is where all the evening action happens, but far enough from the main tourist crush that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, you can walk to Diocletian’s Palace in about ten minutes, but you can also just sit on the waterfront with a coffee and watch the ferries come and go. The couples who stay here get it — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll along the water after dinner without having to navigate through crowds of day-trippers.
The Rooms
The rooms are what I’d call “smart comfortable” — they’ve clearly thought about what travelers actually need. Air conditioning that works (crucial in Split summers), decent WiFi, and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re playing Tetris every time you turn around. Some rooms have sea views, and honestly, even a partial glimpse of the Adriatic makes a difference. The beds are proper comfortable, not just hotel-acceptable, and there are enough outlets that you won’t be unplugging the mini-fridge to charge your phone.
The Split Experience
What I really appreciate about staying here is how it connects you to actual Split life. You’re not trapped in some resort bubble — you’ll find yourself buying pastries from the same bakery the locals use, or grabbing drinks at bars where you might be the only tourists. The hotel staff actually knows the neighborhood, so when they recommend a restaurant, it’s usually somewhere good rather than just somewhere that gives them a commission. You know what’s nice? Being able to come back to your room for a quick rest between exploring the palace and heading out for dinner, without it feeling like a major expedition.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.5 rating makes sense when you experience the place — it’s that sweet spot where everything works without being flashy about it. Couples especially seem to get what this hotel offers: a genuine Split experience with enough comfort that you’re not roughing it. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but you’re staying somewhere that feels like it belongs in the city rather than just being dropped into it. It’s the kind of place where you end up having a better time than you expected, partly because you’re not fighting your accommodation to enjoy your destination.

Supermarket is also next to house, which is really convenient.
We enjoyed pretty much the terrace and appreciated to have a shop near by.
