Alba Residence
First Impressions
Walking up to Alba Residence on Petra Hektorovića street, you immediately get that feeling you’ve found something special. This four-star property sits in what locals consider the sweet spot of Split — close enough to everything that matters, but tucked away from the tourist chaos that can overwhelm the old town during peak season. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, which honestly made me appreciate it even more.
The Perfect Split Location
Here’s what I love about where Alba Residence sits — you’re literally a pleasant 10-minute walk to Diocletian’s Palace, but you’re not dealing with the noise and crowds right outside your window. The neighborhood has that authentic Croatian residential feel, with local cafés and small shops that actually serve the people who live here year-round. I noticed couples seem particularly drawn to this area, and after spending time here, I get why they rate the location so highly for romantic getaways.
The Room Experience
My room was spacious in a way that surprised me — Split accommodations can be pretty compact, but Alba Residence clearly prioritized comfort over cramming in extra units. The design strikes this nice balance between modern amenities and Croatian coastal style, with plenty of natural light streaming in. What really impressed me was the attention to practical details — good storage space, reliable WiFi, and air conditioning that actually works well during those sweltering summer afternoons.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast setup here is honestly better than I expected from a four-star property. They offer both continental and buffet options, which means you can grab something quick if you’re rushing off to catch a ferry, or sit down for a proper meal if you’re taking your time. The real game-changer though is the free private parking — if you’ve ever tried to park in Split during summer, you’ll understand why this alone makes Alba Residence worth considering. It’s right on-site, so you don’t have to worry about hunting for spots or feeding meters.
Why Guests Love It
After staying here, I understand why Alba Residence consistently gets such high ratings. It’s that rare combination of being well-located without the premium price tag of beachfront properties, plus they’ve clearly thought about what travelers actually need. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the less touristy beaches and restaurant spots that locals frequent. You know what really sealed it for me? Coming back after a long day of exploring and actually feeling like I was returning to a peaceful retreat rather than just another hotel room. That’s not something you find everywhere in Split. The apartment-style layout with a kitchenette also gives you flexibility to prepare light meals or snacks whenever you’d like.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Split around Veli Varoš for tavern walks, art studios, and lively squares.

Guest Reviews
The neighborhood is simply superb (quiet and peaceful). Also really good restaurants near by.
Also a big plus is the garage (in case you have a car) and being within walking distance from downtown.
The overall quality of the facilities are amazing, and the same with the breakfast (uff, What a View : )
Clean and comfortable to stay in, while it rained for most of one day.
Nearby secluded beach away from the main area was great for a swim.
Didn't see much of the staff, as we had to leave before breakfast on 2 of 3 mornings, for an early tour then the catamaran to Dubrovnik.
Breakfast fairly basic but OK.
It was a very beautiful experience
Very attentive and helpful staff, breakfast on 2nd floor with a view. Parking garage. Great shower.
Immaculately kept property.
Impressive, very very impressive.
Breakfast is preapred and served by a lovely old lady.
Family run business with 100% customer service in mind.
The lady running the business, a very charming lady, went out of her way to accommodate us with one additional night (the place is so nice, we didn't want to leave).
The sheets, towels, rooms, bathrooms, kitchen are the cleanest I have ever seen ( and I do travel a lot).
Overall, I would very highly recommend this place, not only for the reasons i mentioned above, but also for the location. Very nice quiet location.
16 minutes walking to the crowded center or 7 Euro Uber.
See you soon.
Cheers
