Apartman ”Petar” Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Apartman \”Petar\” on Ulica Sv. Petra starog, you immediately understand why couples give this place a perfect 10 for location. I mean, you’re literally steps from Diocletian’s Palace — and I’m talking about the kind of proximity where you can hear the evening buzz from the palace courtyards. This four-star property sits right in the pulse of Split, but honestly, the street itself feels surprisingly peaceful for being so central.

The Heart of Split

What strikes me most about staying here is how you’re positioned perfectly between the ancient and modern sides of Split. You can grab morning coffee at one of those tiny local spots that locals actually frequent, then be wandering through 1,700-year-old Roman ruins within two minutes. The location score of 9.9 makes total sense when you realize you’re avoiding all those tourist traps near the waterfront while still being close enough to everything that matters. Actually, some of Split’s best konobas (traditional taverns) are just around the corner — the kind of places you’d never find unless you knew someone local.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel room. There’s this lived-in comfort that you don’t usually get with accommodation — proper coffee setup, enough space to actually unpack, and those little touches that show someone cares about the details. The kitchen is functional enough for simple meals, which honestly comes in handy when you want to grab fresh produce from the nearby Pazar market and have breakfast on your own schedule.

Daily Rhythms

What I love about this spot is how it lets you live like a temporary Split resident rather than just passing through. Mornings, you’ll hear the market vendors setting up — it’s this gentle wake-up call that feels authentic rather than jarring. Evenings, the narrow streets come alive with that Mediterranean energy, but you’re tucked away enough that you can actually sleep. The 9.1 rating reflects something important: this place delivers on the promise of being in the real heart of the city without the chaos that usually comes with prime locations.

Why Guests Love It

Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about having your own little corner in one of Europe’s most fascinating cities. You know what really sells it though? It’s that feeling of discovery. You’re not staying in some generic hotel district; you’re embedded in the actual fabric of Split. When you step outside, you’re immediately part of the city’s daily rhythm, whether that’s following the scent of fresh bread to a local bakery or stumbling upon impromptu street performances in the palace squares. For travelers who want to experience Split rather than just visit it, this location delivers in ways that surprised even me.

Reviews of Apartman ”Petar”

  • A fantastic place in Split – Bishakhag from India (10/10)

The location was par excellence. The main bus station, the port, the Riva, the markets, the Diocletian Palace, everything was nearby.

The apartment was airy, well lit and had a great view. A big plus for the living cum dining and kitchen for its three huge windows on three sides that offered wonderful views. Above all, it was very comfortable It had a very homely feeling.

The kitchen was well stocked with the essential stuff like salt, sugar, coffee and cooking utensils. Unfortunately, we didn't know how to operate the coffee machine and there were no instructions.

The beds were comfortable and once we shut the windows, there was no noise. The sleep quality was good.

The apartment was very comfortable for three of us, we all had separate spaces for ourselves.

The hostess had left us individual gifts, and we appreciated it very much.

  • We were happy in this apartment. The host was very resourceful. Great location close to everything – Maritza from United States of America (10/10)

    Everything was great

  • Best Location and Lovely Place to Stay in! – Lara from Malta (9/10)

The apartment was lovely and super central – close to all amenities. Ivana was an excellent host. She was responsive and always ready to help. Will definitely stay here on my next visit to Split!

  • Loved Split and the appartment was in the heart of everything 😎 – Rob from Australia (8/10)

    Great location close to everything.

  • First but not last visit to beautiful and interesting Split. – Kristina from Sweden (9/10)

The location is great, just minutes from the harbour and the palace and a short walk from the airport shuttle bus. The flat is nice and clean with comfy beds. Some traffic outside but after all it is in the city centre and the windows are good. We slept really well. Three food shops and a market within five minutes walk. Really good communication with Ivana the host on whatsapp.

  • Really good home away from home in the heart of the tourist activities. – Liz from Spain (9/10)

Fantastic location, homey feel, great light. English level of host was fantastic and she was very responsive to any questions we had. I really appreciated that I was able to leave a suitcase earlier than check in so that I could explore.

  • Really good week away felt comfortable in the apartment, good having multiple keys – James from United Kingdom (8/10)

Excellent location and good social space

  • Very good choice for Split Old Town – John from United States of America (10/10)

Unbeatable location on the very edge of old town pedestrian area. The living room has large windows and a view old town and the bell tower in one direction and the harbor in another. Air conditioner unit in both bedrooms and the living room. Washing machine and drying rack. We found free parking on nearby Zlodrina poljana but when we couldn't there then there was pay parking up the hill on the street a couple of blocks for 18 euros for 24 hours. I used bmove app to pay. When we arrived there was only instant or Turkish coffee options and the host graciously brought us a pod machine. On a very busy street but the soundproofing is very effective, plus the bedrooms face a side street. I can recommend this place.
